1934 Santos Hernandez (Madrid) original french polish padded over with later french polish. Fingerboard is a recent replacement done invisibly, and the golpeadores are modern replacements of the original wooden golpeadores. Numerous repaired top, side and back cracks, all done professionally and very well, the instrument is in outstanding playing condition and retains significant originality throughout. Santos Hernandez was the most important Spanish maker of the 1st half of the 20th century, original instruments by Santos are very difficult to find, especially in good musical condition, and this instrument is still in exceptional playing condition. It would be equally at home with a collector or very serious player, and is a fine example of Santos‘ work.
